Chocolate Brownies

Here's a classic chocolate brownie recipe that's sure to satisfy your chocolate cravings:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8-inch (20x20 cm) baking pan.
  2. In a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl or in a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. If you're using a microwave, do it in short 20-30 second bursts to avoid overheating.
  3. Stir the granulated sugar into the melted butter until well combined.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until the batter is well combined. Be careful not to overmix; just mix until no streaks of flour remain.
  7. If you like, you can fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts at this point for added texture and flavor.
  8. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  10. Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan on a wire rack.
  11. Once completely cooled, cut the brownies into squares or rectangles.
Enjoy your homemade chocolate brownies! You can serve them as it is or with a scoop of ice cream for an extra treat.
