Here's a simple recipe for cheesy garlic bread:
Ingredients:
- 1 French baguette or Italian bread
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Slice the bread: Cut the baguette or Italian bread in half horizontally so that you have two long pieces. You can also cut it into individual slices if you prefer.
Prepare the garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic and chopped parsley into the softened butter. Season the mixture with a pinch of salt and a dash of black pepper. Stir until everything is well combined.
Spread the garlic butter: Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
Add the cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the garlic butter on both halves of the bread. Then, top it with the grated Parmesan cheese.
Assemble and wrap: Put the two halves of the bread back together, creating a "sandwich." Wrap the whole bread loaf in aluminum foil.
Bake: Place the wrapped loaf on a baking sheet or directly on the oven rack and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. You can unwrap the top of the bread during the last few minutes of baking to allow the cheese to get a golden brown crust.
Serve: Once the cheesy garlic bread is out of the oven, let it cool for a minute or two. Then, slice it into pieces and serve it while it's still warm.
Enjoy your homemade cheesy garlic bread as an appetizer or side dish with your favorite pasta or as a snack.
