Kashmiri Tea / Pink Tea


  

Here's a recipe for making Pink Kashmiri Tea:

Ingredients:

2 cups water

2 green tea bags or 2 teaspoons loose green tea leaves

4-5 green cardamom pods, crushed

4-5 cloves

1 small cinnamon stick

1-2 slices of fresh ginger

4-5 strands of saffron

2 tablespoons dried rose petals or 2-3 tablespoons rose syrup

1-2 tablespoons of chopped almonds

1-2 tablespoons of chopped pistachios

1-2 tablespoons of chopped cashews

1-2 tablespoons of raisins

Sugar or honey to taste

Instructions:

Start by bringing 2 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.

Once the water is boiling, add the green tea bags or loose green tea leaves. Allow it to simmer for 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to over brew, as green tea can become bitter.

While the tea is simmering, add the crushed cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon stick, and ginger slices to the pot. These spices will infuse their flavors into the tea.

After 2-3 minutes, remove the pot from the heat and add saffron strands. Let it steep for another 2-3 minutes.

Strain the tea into serving cups or glasses, discarding the tea bags or loose leaves and the whole spices.

To make the tea pink, you can choose one of two options:

a. Using Dried Rose Petals: Add dried rose petals to the tea and let them steep for a few minutes to infuse the color and aroma. You can adjust the amount of rose petals to achieve your desired pink hue.

OR

b. Using Rose Syrup: If you're using rose syrup, simply add 2-3 tablespoons to the tea and stir well to achieve the pink color. Adjust the sweetness according to your preference.

Now, add chopped almonds, pistachios, cashews, and raisins to each cup of tea.

Sweeten the tea to your liking with sugar or honey. Pink Kashmiri tea is usually mildly sweet, but you can adjust the sweetness according to your preference.

Stir everything well to ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
