French Toast

French toast is a delicious breakfast dish made with slices of bread soaked in a mixture of eggs and milk, then fried to a golden brown. Here's a basic recipe for making French toast:

Ingredients:

4 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or any bread of your choice)

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk (whole milk or any milk you prefer)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Pinch of salt

Butter or cooking oil for frying

Toppings: Maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries, sliced bananas, or any other toppings you like

Instructions:

Prepare the Egg Mixture:

In a shallow dish or bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract (if using), ground cinnamon (if using), and a pinch of salt. Whisk until well combined.

Heat the Pan:

Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of butter or cooking oil and let it melt and coat the bottom of the pan.

Soak the Bread:

Dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are well coated. Allow any excess mixture to drip off.

Cook the French Toast:

Place the soaked bread slice in the hot pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until it's golden brown and slightly crispy. Adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning.

Repeat:

Repeat the dipping and cooking process with the remaining slices of bread, adding more butter or oil to the pan as needed.

Serve:

Once all the slices are cooked and golden brown, transfer them to a plate. You can keep them warm in a preheated oven (around 200°F or 93°C) while you cook the rest if you'd like.

Add Toppings:

Serve your French toast hot with your choice of toppings. Maple syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar are classic choices, but feel free to get creative with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or other toppings.

Enjoy your homemade French toast!

Feel free to customize your French toast by adding extracts, or toppings to suit your taste preferences. It's a versatile breakfast dish that can be adapted in many delicious ways.
