Chicken strips, also known as chicken tenders or chicken fingers, are a delicious and easy-to-make dish. Here's a simple recipe:
Ingredients:
For the Chicken Strips:
- 1 pound (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts or tenders, cut into strips
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups breadcrumbs (you can use panko breadcrumbs for extra crispiness)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for added flavor)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
- Cooking oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil work well)
Instructions:
Prepare the Breading Station:
In three separate shallow bowls or plates, set up a breading station. Place the flour in one, beat the eggs in another, and combine the breadcrumbs with grated Parmesan cheese (if using), salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in the third.
Coat the Chicken Strips:
- Cover each chicken strip first in the flour, shaking off any excess.
- Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
- Roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to adhere well.
Set Up a Wire Rack:
Place a wire rack on a baking sheet. This will help the chicken strips stay crispy after frying.
Fry the Chicken Strips:
- In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 1 inch of cooking oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place the coated chicken strips into the hot oil, a few at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the chicken strips from the oil and place them on the wire rack to drain any excess oil.
Serve:
- Serve the chicken strips hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as ketchup, barbecue sauce, honey mustard, or ranch dressing.
- Enjoy your homemade chicken strips as a snack, appetizer, or main dish!
