Swiss Roll

Here's a basic recipe for a Swiss Roll:

Ingredients:

3 large eggs

100g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar

100g (3/4 cup) all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of salt

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Jam or filling of your choice (e.g., strawberry jam, whipped cream, chocolate ganache)

Instructions:

Preparation:

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Grease and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Making the Batter:

In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer or a whisk. Beat until the mixture becomes pale, fluffy, and doubles in volume.

Incorporating Dry Ingredients:

In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gently fold the sifted dry ingredients into the egg-sugar mixture using a spatula. Be careful not to overmix, as you want to maintain the airiness of the batter.

Add the vanilla extract and fold it into the batter.

Baking:

Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly using a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until the cake is lightly golden and springs back when gently touched.

Rolling the Cake:

While the cake is still warm, place a clean kitchen towel or parchment paper on your work surface and dust it with powdered sugar.

Carefully invert the baked cake onto the sugared towel/paper.

Gently peel off the parchment paper that was used for baking.

Filling and Rolling:

Spread a thin, even layer of your chosen filling (jam, whipped cream, ganache) over the entire surface of the cake.

Starting from one edge, carefully roll the cake along with the towel/paper. Roll it tightly but not too tight, so the filling doesn't squeeze out.

Finalizing:

Once rolled, place the Swiss roll seam side down and allow it to cool completely. This helps the roll to hold its shape.

Serving:

Once cooled, transfer the Swiss roll to a serving plate.

Dust the top with powdered sugar for decoration.

Slice and serve!

Enjoy your homemade Swiss roll!

Remember, this is a basic recipe, and you can get creative with different fillings, such as fresh fruits, flavored creams, or even savory options.
